Lydia Elizabeth Sanders, 91, of Canton, Ohio, formerly of Hayesville died Monday, December 15, 2014 in Canton, Ohio. She was born in Hayesville on October 24, 1923.

She was the daughter of the late Charlie P. and Mary Elizabeth Grindstaff Robinson and the wife of the late Vestal Sanders, who died August 17, 1991. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Goins; three sisters, Ada Matheson, Edna Jones, and Mae Dale; and a brother, Jesse Robinson.

Surviving are four sons, Hilliard Sanders and wife, Thelma of Louisville, Ohio, James Allan Sanders and wife, Dee of Ash Grove, Missouri, Archie Sanders and wife, Mary of East Canton, Ohio, and Carl Sanders and wife, Sandy of North Canton, Ohio; a brother, Clyde Robinson; and 14 grandchildren and two step grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and three step great grandchildren, and six great great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM Saturday, December 20, 2014 in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville with the Rev. Dallas Crowder officiating. The interment was in Sweetwater Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family received friends from 12-1:45 Saturday afternoon at the Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville prior to the services.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Lydia Elizabeth Sanders to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, NC Chapter, 4530 Park Road, Suite 240, Charlotte, NC 28209.
