Joyce P. Galloway, 85, of Hayesville passed away Saturday, December 27, 2014 at a Clay County care facility. She was a native of Clay County. She moved back to Clay County from Atlanta upon retirement. Joyce and her husband Clay received an award for their sixteen years of service with the Meals on Wheels. She was a member of Oak Forest United Methodist Church.
She was the daughter of the late Glenn and Flora Belle Smith Padgett and wife of the late Noel Clay Galloway who died March 31, 2014. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Wilma Elliott, Nell Dunbar, and Ernestine Burch; and two brothers, Ray and Garnette Padgett.
Surviving are two sisters, Marie Thomas of Hayesville and Ethel Gaspierik and husband, Martin of New Bern, North Carolina; and a brother, Donald Padgett and wife, Ivo of Kingsport, Tennessee. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 30th at Oak Forest United Methodist Church with the Revs. Guinnell Hunter and Ron Lytle officiating. The interment was in Union Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ronnie Smith, Ivane and Jason Elliott, Bill O'Neil, Leon "Teak" Penland, and Tim Ledford.
The family received friends from 1:00-1:45 p.m. Tuesday at Oak Forest United Methodist Church prior to the service.
