Bennie Homer Stiles, 72, of Murphy died Thursday, February 26 in Blairsville, GA. A native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County, he was the son of the late John and Nola Stiles and the husband of the late Jessie Quinn Stiles, who died Dec. 21, 1986. He was a retired auto mechanic.

Surviving are a son, Wayne Stiles of Etowah, TN; a granddaughter, Monica Stiles Tankersley of Chatsworth, GA; three great grandchildren; and a special friend, Dollie Burrell of Blairsville, GA.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 28 in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy with the Rev. Terrell Jones officiating. Burial was in Reid's Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jack Reid, John Swindell, Joe Tankersley, Tommy Murphy, J.M. Verner, Darren Jones, and Junior Anderson. Honorary pallbearers were Stanley Brooks, Ralph Berrong, Howard Verner, and James Moss.

The family received friends from 12-1:45 Saturday afternoon at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy prior to the services.
