Edith A. England, 80, of Hayesville died Monday, March 22, 2004 at her residence. A native of Buncombe County, she had lived in Ashe and Madison Counties before moving to Clay County 40 years ago. She was the daughter of the late William Henry and Dollie Clinton Arrowood. She was a homemaker and also worked as a substitute school teacher in Hayesville. Edith was a member of the Truett Memorial Baptist Church, where she was active with the GA's. She had worked with the 4-H Clubs for several years.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Bessie Reeves and eight brothers, Fuller, Carr, Rufus, Bill, George, Cecil, Filete, and Ben Arrowood.

Surviving are her husband of 53 years, Printess W. England; a daughter, Nancy Kay Andrews and husband, Rick of Sanford, NC; three sons, Steven C. England and Maurice W. England both of Hayesville, and William G. "Bill" England and wife, Benita of Brasstown; and three grandchildren, Brandy Joyner of Marble, Jarred England of New London, CT, and Brett England of Brasstown.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM Friday, March 26 in the Truett Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. Johnny Foster officiating. Burial was in the Hayesville Baptist / Presbyterian Cemetery. Pallbearers were Charles Battle, Steve Cox, Darrell McClure, Barry Lunsford, Bruce Davenport, and Tommy Evans. Honorary pallbearers were Brandy and Ben Joyner, Jarred and Brett England, Malcomb Blankenship, Kenny Davenport, Herb Wilson, Lester Danner, Paul Vaught, Todd Phillips, and David Ray.

The family received friends from 6-8 Thursday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville where the body will be until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the services.

The family requests memorials be made to the Truett Memorial Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 464, Hayesville, NC 28904.
