Paul Washington Lance, 92, of Murphy died Tuesday, June 1, 2004 at his residence. A native of Union County, GA, he had lived in Cherokee County for the past 48 years. He was the son of the late Robert Lee Lance and Fannie Cordell Lance Sellers. He was a retired farmer and was owner and operator of Lance Service Station. He was a member of the Ivy Log Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter.

Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Pearl Haney Lance; a daughter, Mary Ann Sneed and husband, Gene of Murphy; a son, Ken Lance and wife, Ann of Murphy; three grandchildren, Susan Alderman, Douglas E. Sneed, and Brad Lance; and four great grandchildren.

Graveside services were held at 11:00 AM Thursday, June 3 in the Ivy Log Baptist Cemetery with the Revs. Jerry Karnes and Tommy Seay officiating. Pallbearers were James Collins, J.C. Cherry, John Brooks, Doug Sneed, Brad Lance, and Billy Rhodes.

The family received friends from 6-8 Wednesday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy.
