Charlie Martin, 44, of Hayesville died Thursday, July 8, 2004 in a Knoxville, TN hospital. A native of Clay Co., where he had lived most of his life, he was the son of Joe Martin of Asheville and Frances Matheson Martin Turrill of Hayesville. He was an excellent carpenter and craftsman. He was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church. Charlie enjoyed hunting and camping.

Surviving are his wife of 18 years, Diane Tredway Martin; a daughter, Sharli Martin of the home; two step sons, Joshua and Jason Cheek, both of Blairsville, GA, two sisters, Angie Anderson, and Sarah Cochran, both of Hiawassee, GA; and three brothers, Steve Martin of Pompano Beach, FL, Brian Martin of Asheville, NC, and Keith Martin of Arden, NC.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM Sunday, July 11, 2004 in the Shiloh Baptist Church with Rev. Clark Moss officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

The family received friends from 6:00-9:00 Saturday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville where the body was until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to services.
