Lloyd W. Hackley, 69, of Murphy died Monday, October 11, 2004 at his residence. A native of Chicago, IL, he lived in Murphy for the past nine years. He was the son of the late Lloyd W. and Mable Roth Hackley. Lloyd served in the US Army. He was a graduate of DePaul University in Chicago and did post graduate work at Arizona State University. He retired after a career as a semi-conductor engineer where he was awarded numerous patents. He was an active member of Saint William Catholic Church. His hobbies included bridge and bowling. He was also involved in many aspects of little league baseball. Lloyd enjoyed travel and had visited all 50 states.
Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Mary Lunenschloss Hackley; four sons, Stephen L. Hackley and wife, Donna of Westford, MA, Gregory C. Hackley of St. Petersburg, FL, Christopher J. Hackley and wife, Annmarie of Ottsville, PA and Neil T. Hackley of Largo, FL; a brother, William Hackley of Pahoa, HI; and six grandchildren, Hannah, Cara, Madison, Caroline, Katheryn, and Christopher.
Funeral mass was held at 11:00 AM Thursday, October 14 in Saint William Catholic Church with Father George Kloster officiating.
The family received friends from 7-8:30 Wednesday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy.
