Bessie Elizabeth Bodenhamer McBryar, 91, of Hayesville died Sunday, December 26, 2004 in Clay County Care Center. A native of Clay County where she had lived most of her life, she was the daughter of the late Luther Harrison and Fannie Hicks Bodenhamer. Bessie worked many years as a cook for the Clay County School System, and then she had worked and retired from Carolina Dress Company. She was a member of Truett Memorial Baptist Church.
Surviving are a son, Ray McBryar and wife, Margie of Loganville, GA; four sisters, Blanche Bodenhamer, Carrie Wood, Blonn Stewart, and Joyce Bethune, all of Trenton, GA; a brother, Wayne Bodenhamer of Trenton, GA; a grandson, Gary McBryar of Loganville, GA; and two great grandsons, Jeremy and Jonathan McBryar, both of Dacula, GA.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, Dec. 29 in the Chapel of the Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville with Revs. Johnny Foster and Jimmy Rogers officiating. Burial was in the Hayesville Baptist-Presbyterian Cemetery. Pallbearers were Larry and Stanley Cooper, Curtis Underwood, Bud Puckett, Larry Coleman, and Steve Hall.
The family received friends from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 Tuesday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Truett Memorial Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 464, Hayesville, NC 28904.
