Martha Modene Stewart, 67, of Andrews died Thursday, Dec. 15, 2005 in a Murphy hospital. She was a native of Andrews, where she had lived most of her life. She was the daughter of the late George Eston and Icie Griggs Bettis. She was a retired beautician and was a member of the Valleytown Baptist Church. Her hobbies included crocheting and crafts.

Surviving are her son, Daryl Sutton and wife, Kelly of Anderson, SC; two brothers, J.B. Bettis and wife, Brenda of Andrews and Joe Bettis and wife, Pat of Murphy; and two nieces, Connie Bettis Clayton and Denise Bettis Palmer and one nephew, Steve Bettis.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM Saturday, Dec. 17 in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews with the Rev. Ron McClure officiating. Burial was in the Moss Cemetery. Pallbearers were Steve Bettis, Burt Hughes, Bobby Clayton, David Young, and Fred West. Honorary pallbearers were Dennis Hughes and Wade Fox.

The family received friends from 10-10:45 Saturday morning at the Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews prior to the services.
