Dora Lee Passmore, 73, of Andrews went home to be with the Lord Sunday, December 4, 2005 at her residence. She was a native of Macon County, but had been living in Cherokee County for over 40 years. She was the daughter of the late Carl and Eula Cope Bateman and was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathy West and two brothers, Eldridge and Paul Bateman. She had worked as a seamstress in the textile industry and later in life, worked as a CNA at the Valley View Care Center. She was an active member of the Valleytown Baptist Church where she had been a Sunday School teacher and Bible School worker.
Surviving are her husband of 57 years, R.L. Passmore; a daughter, Tammy Payne and her husband, Jeff of Andrews; a sister, Frances Mintz of Andrews; two brothers, Bill Bateman and his wife, Velva of Nantahala and Kenneth Bateman and his wife, Beverly of Andrews; six grandchildren, Angela Kerr, Russell, Darla, and Tim West, and Kyndra and Jacob Payne; and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, Dec. 7 in the Valleytown Baptist Church with Rev. Ron McClure officiating. Burial was in Valleytown Cemetery. Pallbearers were Deacons of Valleytown Baptist Church, John Cook, Gary Wilson, Larry Rogers, Bobby Clayton, Mike Allison, and Danny Pullium.
The family received friends from 6-8 Tuesday evening at the Valleytown Baptist Church.
