Jackie R. Rogers, 56, of Hayesville died Saturday, November 19, 2005 in a Murphy medical center. He was a native of Clay County where he had lived most of his life. He was the son of Inez Burrell Rogers of Hayesville and the late Henry Roosevelt Rogers. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the United States Army. He was a retied heavy equipment operator with Reid and Reid Construction Company in Cumming, Georgia. He was a member of the Little Brasstown Baptist Church. Jackie loved the outdoors and especially loved fishing, hunting, and camping. He was presently restoring his father's barn.

Surviving in addition to the mother are his wife, Rita Thorpe Rogers; a daughter, Sabrina Rogers of Blairsville, GA; a son, Israel Rogers and wife, Sherry of Hayesville; three step-daughters, Robin Hopkinson of Scottsdale, AZ, Pami Utrecht and husband, Steve, and Tami Hopkinson, all of Boca Raton, FL; four sisters, Pat Bryson and husband, Elmer of Hiawassee, GA, Mary Levins of Dunwoody, GA, Henrietta Byers and husband, Danny of Brevard, and Diane Martin and husband, Brian of Hayesville; five brothers, Wayne Rogers and wife, Betty of Gainesville, GA, Edward Rogers and wife, Murrell, and Benny Rogers and wife, Brenda, all of Hayesville, Joe Rogers and wife, Shirlene of Hiawassee, GA, and Jerry Rogers and wife, Marie of Ringgold, GA; and three grandchildren, Noah Israel Rogers, Jennifer and Jessica Utrecht.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, Nov. 22 in the Chapel of the Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville with Rev. Aud Brown officiating. Burial was in the Hayesville Baptist/Presbyterian Cemetery. Pallbearers were Chuck, Barry, Eric, Bengy, and Bryan Rogers, and Terry Anderson. Sam and Matt Rogers, Brack Martin, and Jordan Ashe served as honorary pallbearers.

The family received friends from 11:30-1:45 Tuesday at the Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville prior to the services.

The family requests memorials be made in honor of his sisters to the Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, 5005 LBJ Freeway, Suite 250, Dallas, TX 75244.
