Frances Holland Gilbert, 78, of Hickory, NC died Sunday, May 8, 2005 at Brian Center in Hickory. A native of Cherokee County, she was the daughter of the late Judson and Belle Creasman Whitaker, and the wife of the late Bill Holland and Dillard Gilbert. Mrs. Gilbert had retired from Firestone Mills with over 20 years of service.

She was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.

Surviving are a son, William (Buddy) Holland and wife, Sue of Lincolnton; NC a sister, Gaynell Holcombe of Gastonia, NC; a brother, Tyson Whitaker of South Carolina; four grandchildren, Robin H. Dockery and husband, Mark of Gastonia, Renee H. Moody and husband, Rick, Brooke H. Schrum and husband, John, and Michael Holland and wife, Teresa all of Lincolnton; and four great grandchildren.

Graveside services were held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 11 in the Valleytown Cemetery with the Rev. Roy Phillips officiating.
