Robert Lamar “Jack” Shook, 83, of Hayesville died Monday, Sept. 13, 2010 in a Blairsville, GA hospital.  He was a native of Towns County, GA, but had lived in Clay County most of his life. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Maritime Service and a veteran of the Korean War serving in the United States Army.  He was the owner and operator of Jack Shook’s Construction Company for many years. Jack was of the Baptist faith.

He was the son of the late Marlor and Lassie Seay Shook.

Surviving are his wife, Kay Maney Shook; two step-sons, Gary Howell Mashburn and wife, Carol and Bryan Donell Mashburn and wife, Martha all of Hayesville; two sisters, Louise Moore and Geneva “Tootsie” Berrong all of Hayesville; three step-grandchildren, James Mashburn, Michelle Spry, and Zera Crapse; and four step-great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM Thursday, Sept. 16 in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville with the Rev. Wayne Matheson officiating.  Interment was in the Hayesville First United Methodist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Doug Moss, David and Casey Shook, Joe Dorsey, Lyndon Anderson, and Josh Crapse.  Gene Moore served as honorary pallbearer.

The family received friends from 6-8 Wednesday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Robert Lamar “Jack” Shook to the Alzheimer’s Association, Western Carolina Chapter, 31 College Place, Suite D320, Asheville, NC 28801-2644.
