Halena Grant, 95, of Nantahala Community, Topton died Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010 in a Murphy medical center. She was a native and lifetime resident of Macon County. Halena was a homemaker and a member of the Briartown Baptist Church.

She was the daughter of the late Ben F. and Alcie Ivester Dalrymple and the wife of the late Olsen Alexander Grant, who died Dec. 17, 1993.

Surviving are a daughter, Syble Trantham and husband, Bill of Dearborn Heights, MI; a son, Coyett C. Grant of Commerce, GA; and four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, Oct. 6 in the Briartown Baptist Church with Revs. Eddie Cook and Larry Icenhower officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Terry Trantham, Brad, Chad, and Scott Sheppard, Spencer and Greg Ellington, and Tim Whitlow.  Honorary pallbearers were Sidney May and Ray Evans.

The family received friends from 4-8 Tuesday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews where the body was until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the services.
