She was elected Citizen of the Year by the Towns County Lions Club, the Northeast Georgia Board of Realtors, and the Lake Chatuge-Hiawassee Rotary Club.

She was a member of the Hayesville First United Methodist Church, where she served in several capacities, including committee chairs and Sunday School.

She was the daughter of the late J.Y. and Emma Maney Denton and the wife of the late Robert L. Anderson Jr., who died October 29, 1983. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Groves; and two brothers, J.C. Denton and J. William Denton.

Elois was a distant cousin. Although I had very little contact with her over the years, I greatly admired her accomplishments . Being a retired banker, I know how much she was respected in the banking community.

Rosie Hallam and Liz Getz were very fond of Miss Elois, and admired her greatly. She was always supportive of us and our company. She was a real trail blazer for Southern women, had a great sense of humor, and was always interested in what we builders did. We will miss her.
