William A. “Bill” Stansell, 60, of Lawrenceville, GA died unexpectedly Tuesday, April 1, 2014. He was a native and lifetime resident of the Atlanta area. He was a graduate of Gordon Military College, Mars Hill University with a BS degree in Biology, and Middle Tennessee State University with a Master’s degree in Guidance and Counseling. Bill worked for C.T.B.-McGraw Hill, Testing Division, in Tennessee and Georgia, owned and operated Spiced Right BBQ in Lilburn, Georgia, and was presently working as a chef for Hope Memory Care Center in Lawrenceville. He was of the Methodist faith.
He was the son of the late Albert Lee and Mary Ellen Arendell Stansell.
Surviving are his wife of 35 years, Gail Walker Stansell; a sister, Sandra Myrick Akins of Arkansas; a niece, Kimberly Myrick Korth; a nephew, Justin Myrick; and his two good buddies, Meester and Lilli.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM Saturday, April 5, 2014 in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy with the Rev. Rob Rollins officiating. Interment was in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Pete Lauderdale, Joey and Nick Harp, Sam Davis, Barry McClure, and Dr. Bill Dyer.
The family received friends from 5:30-7:00 Friday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of William A. “Bill” Stansell to the Murphy First United Methodist Church, PO Box 86, Murphy, NC 28906.
