Louise A. Lance, 86, of Hayesville died Tuesday, August 26, 2014 in a Towns County, Georgia care center. She was a native of Hiawassee, Georgia, but had lived in Hayesville, North Carolina and Milledgeville, Georgia before returning to Hayesville three years ago. She was a retired physical therapist aid for Central State Hospital in Milledgeville, Georgia. Louise was a member of the Sweetwater Baptist Church in Hayesville.

 

She was the daughter of the late Frank Washington Dills Sr. and Pauline Brown Dills and the wife of the late Eugene Lance, who died March 10, 2002. She was preceded in death by three daughters, Debbie Greer, and twin girls, Joyce and Janice Lance; a son, Jerry Quinton Lance; a sister, Sally Bell Dills; and a brother, J.B. Dills.

 

Surviving are two daughters, Diane Archer and husband, Gerald, and Darlene Lance Pittman all of Milledgeville, Georgia; two sons, Rev. Bruce Lance and wife, Brenda, and Johnny Lance and wife, Teresa all of Milledgeville, Georgia; a devoted sister, Frances Bradshaw of Hayesville, who cared for her for several years; three brothers, Frank Dills Jr. and wife, Rebecca, and William Dills and wife, Debbie all of Hayesville, and Bobby Dills of Young Harris, Georgia; 14 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 14 great great grandchildren; and a devoted niece, Brenda Anderson of Hayesville.

 

Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 30 in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville with the Revs. Gerry Graves and Aud Brown officiating. Interment was in Sweetwater Baptist Cemetery. Pallbearers were Greg Archer, Richard, Leslie, James, and Allen Lance, Sammy Cash, and Jeremy Snider. Jack Bradshaw and Jamie Anderson served as honorary pallbearers.

 

The family received friends from 6-8 Friday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville.

 

The family requests memorials be made in memory of Louise A. Lance to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or www.stjude.org.

I am sorry to find Aunt Louise has passed away. Last time I saw any of the family was when I was 5 years old. Son of Bobby Dills
