Lewis Ray Brown, 63, of Murphy died Monday, June 8, 2015 in a Murphy medical center. Lewis was a native and lifetime resident of Cherokee County. He retired in 2004 after 30 years with Coats America. Lewis was a member of Hyatts Creek Baptist Church and loved to read his Bible. He was also a Sunday School teacher.
He was the son of the late Jack and Shirley Dorlon Brown.
Surviving are his wife, Yvonne Wilson Brown; two daughters, Melanie Rogers and husband, Kevin, and Monica Mintz and husband, Chris all of Murphy; four sisters, Lilly Lou McClure, Mary Stiles, Martha Brown, and Margaret Stiles all of Murphy; two brothers, Tommy Brown and Goldman Brown both of Murphy; and a granddaughter, Natalie Mintz.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 10, 2015 in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy with the Rev. Parker Burgess officiating. The interment was in Ledford Cemetery with Rev. Kenny Corn officiating. Pallbearers were Junior and Scotty Stiles, Jeff Frady, Josh and Derek Morgan, and Ricky Brown. Honorary pallbearers were David Burrell, and Dalton and Robby Wilson.
The family received friends from 12-1:45 Wednesday afternoon at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy prior to the services.
