Jerry G. Gibson, 82, of Clyde, North Carolina, formerly of Hayesville, died Wednesday, May 4, 2016 in Clyde. He was a native of Clay County, but lived in Clyde for several years. Jerry was a member of the Hayesville First United Methodist Church. Jerry enjoyed getting outside to sit in the sunshine, going for car rides, taking visits back to his hometown of Hayesville, working puzzles, daily milkshakes, and looking good. Jerry took great pride in his appearance and enjoyed meeting new people. Jerry had a great sense of humor and brought everyone around him happiness.

 

He was the son of the late James Robert and Amanda Charm Waldroup Gibson.

 

Surviving are a sister, Joan Berryhill and husband, Dr. Bruce Berryhill of Cashiers, North Carolina; and a brother, Dr. James Robert Gibson Jr. and wife, Elizabeth Gibson of Monroe, North Carolina.

 

A graveside service was held at 2:00 PM Saturday, May 7, 2016 in the Hayesville First United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Kirk Hatherly officiating.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Jerry G. Gibson to a charity of your choice.

 

Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville in charge of all arrangements.

Another class mate has left us. I have fond memories of being in school with Jerry, especially in Miss Ada Thompson's sixth grade.

Jerry left those of us who knew him with wonderful memories of hearing his laughter and working puzzles with him. I had the privilege and honor of getting to know him and feel blessed to have been a part of his journey.

I had the privilege of caring for Jerry for the last three years. I feel so blessed to have the opportunity to get to know this amazing man. I am going to miss him so much. Jerry I know you are singing and dancing in heaven now.
To Joan & Robert, Thank you for sharing your brother with us, for it was I that was touched by caring for him. I love you and miss you already Jerry.

Jerry is already so deeply missed. He possessed such a strong presence & touched so many lives along his life journey. So many wonderful memories he has left with us. Condolences for all family & friends.
