Alta Riddle, 90, of Andrews died Sunday, December 18, 2016 in Knoxville, Tennessee. She was a native of Cherokee County, but lived in Canton, Ohio before moving back in 1986. Alta was a homemaker and was a member of Valleytown Baptist Church.
She was the daughter of the late George Alfred and Tine Birchfield Grindstaff and the wife of the late Harold E. Riddle, who died April 1, 2009.
Surviving are a daughter, Iris Ann Collins and husband, Jim of Knoxville; a brother, George Reid Grindstaff of Port Orange, Florida; four grandsons, Andrew, Brendan, Jared, and Kensley; and a great granddaughter, Kymberli Anne.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM Thursday, December 22, 2016 in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews with the Rev. Eric Byrd officiating and John Cook speaking. The interment was in Valleytown Cemetery. Pallbearers were Andrew, Brendan, and Jared Collins, Dexter Grindstaff, Ben Riddle, and Lloyd Jenkins.
The family received friends from 12:30-1:45 Thursday afternoon at the Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews prior to the services.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Alta Riddle to the Valleytown Baptist Church, c/o Ruby Brown, 2542 Stewart Road, Andrews, NC 28901.
