Hilda Mae Ensley, 93, of Andrews passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2018 in an Andrews care center. She was a native and lifetime resident of Andrews. Hilda enjoyed gardening, especially growing flowers and tomatoes. She was a wonderful cook. She was a member of the Valley River Baptist Church.

She was the daughter of the late Hardy and Katie West Phillips and the wife of the late Walter Ensley, who died June 20, 1986. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Clara Bell Womack and Myrtle Phillips; and five brothers, Grant, Gordon, Donald, Otis, and Quentin Phillips.

She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 12 PM Friday, February 9, 2018 in the Valley River Baptist Church with the Rev. Roy Phillips officiating. The interment was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Jimmy and Brandon Hyde, Marlon Blaylock, and Melvin, Steve, and Bill Phillips.

The family received friends from 11-11:45 Friday morning at the Valley River Baptist Church prior to the services.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Hilda Mae Ensley to the Valley River Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Jean Phillips, PO Box 1189, Andrews, NC 28901.
