Cheryl A. Cattaneo, 64, of Murphy died Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at her residence.  She had lived in Sudbury, MA and Tampa and St. Augustine, FL before moving to Cherokee County in 2003.  She had worked with Guardian ad Litem and had been a charter member in Tampa.  Cheryl headed up and organized the American Cancer Society in St. Augustine.  While in Murphy, she volunteered with Relay for Life.  She was a member of St. William Catholic Church.

Surviving are her husband of 29 years, Don Cattaneo; a sister, Teresa Johnson and husband Wayne of Boxborough, MA, two brothers, Joel Sicard of Boxborough, MA, and Ed Sicard and wife Cathy of Murphy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral mass was held at 10:00 AM Friday, April 29, 2011 in the St. William Catholic Church with Rev. George Kloster officiating.  Interment was in the Kennesaw Memorial Park Cemetery.  Pallbearers were Ben and Justin Sicard, Jeremy Hall, Rob and Bob Argrisani, and Steve Maiorino.

The family received friends from 6-8 Thursday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy, NC.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Cheryl A. Cattaneo to the American Cancer Society, Cherokee County Chapter, P.O. Box 1151, Murphy, NC 28906.

Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy was in charge of all arrangements.
