Cecil Radford, 80, of Murphy died Wednesday, March 7, 2012 in a Hall County, GA hospital.  He was a native and lifetime resident of Cherokee County.  He was a self-employed timberman.  Cecil was of the Christian faith.  He liked to hunt, fish, and work in his garden.

He was the son of the late Clayborn and Emma Bell Radford.  He was preceded in death by three brothers, Onis, Marvin, and Creed Radford; and two sisters, Jean Garrett and Glovene Garrett Dockery.

Surviving are his wife, Brenda Simmons Radford; two step-sons, Jimmy Brown of Murphy and Tommy Brown of Canton, GA; two sisters, Frances Floyd and Barbara Guthrie; a brother, Max Radford; and three step-grandchildren, Valerie, Victoria, and Glorious Brown.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 10, 2012 in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy with the Revs. Marty Garrett and Scott Ware officiating. Interment was in the Unaka Baptist Cemetery.  Pallbearers were Tommy and Jimmy Brown, Joe and Sam Radford, David Hayes, and Phillip McCray.

The family received friends from 6-8 Friday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy.

The family requests memorials be made in memory of Cecil Radford to the Unaka Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Glenn Crowe, 11931 Beaver Dam Road, Murphy, NC 28906.

Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy in charge of all arrangements.

I always loved seeing Cecil and listening to him talk about his dogs, and his hunting stories. You will be greatly missed.

Cecil will be missed. Enjoyed coming to sit on the porch with my Uncle Lloyd and talk. Cecil and Creed had great stories to tell. Our sympathy goes to family,,you will be in our prayers. Love Ronnie Radford

Cecil always had a nice smile and a kind word to speak to me. My life was blessed having known him.
Sam Houston, Hannah and Lydia love him and will miss him.
