Surviving is a nephew, Dyaarl Anderson and wife, Gail of Jacksonville, FL; a niece, Brenda Godwin and husband, Bob of Thomasville, GA; a great niece, Gina Aldridge; three great nephews, Lee Anderson, Shaun Anderson, and Rob Godwin; three great-great nephews, Owen, Brayden, and Brooks Anderson; and several cousins also survive.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 20, 2012 in the Hayesville First United Methodist Church with Rev. Kirk Hatherly officiating.  Interment was in Hayesville First United Methodist Cemetery.  Pallbearers were John Hay, Clea Miller, Steve Hindsman, and Terrence Powell.

The family received friends from 12-1:45 Wednesday afternoon at the Hayesville First United Methodist Church prior to the services.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Opal Anderson Tiger to the Hayesville First United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, PO Box 85, Hayesville, NC 28904.

The family would like to thank all the in-home caregivers/sitters, who have provided companionship, activities when possible and compassionately administered to all of Aunt Opal’s daily needs.  Most special appreciation and gratitude is expressed to Jane Tiger, who managed the sitters and provided care oversight for the family.  Jane’s vigilance, medical knowledge, compassion, and their shared love gave Aunt Opal several “extra” years and allowed us to fulfill her wish to spend the final time of her life at home.

Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville in charge of all arrangements.
