William R. “Bill” Garrison, 77, of Marble died Thursday, June 14, 2012 in Murphy Medical Center. He was a native of Washington D.C., but moved to Cherokee County in 1955. Bill worked for Mundy’s Lumber and Veneer for 30 years. He was a member of the Rowland Hill Baptist Church.

He was the son of the late William Rea Garrison Sr. and Daisy Wade Garrison Cameron and the husband of the late Icie White Garrison, who died May 27, 1994. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Nancy Boniface; one brother, Sam Cameron; and a granddaughter, Megan Ashlynn Sullivan.

Surviving are a daughter, Vickie Lynn Sullivan and husband, Jackie of Murphy; a son, Rickey Gene Garrison and fiancé, Sherry Brock of Cross Hill, SC; two sisters, Linda Leonard of Phoenix, AZ and Sandra Cameron of Florida; and six grandchildren, Kayci, Rickie, Jacob, and Michael Garrison, and Jackson and Hannah Sullivan.

Funeral services were held at 3:00 PM Sunday, June 17, 2012 in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy with the Revs. Donald Watkins, Harold Stiles, and Jimmy Rogers officiating. Interment was in Tomotla Cemetery.  Pallbearers were Rickie Garrison, Brian and Larry Rogers, Ted Rankin, Jerry Beavers, and Eugene Ware.  Honorary pallbearers were Jackson Sullivan, Jacob Garrison, and Harold Garrett.

The family received friends from 1-2:45 Sunday afternoon at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy prior to the services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to help with funeral expenses.

May God comfort you during this time of sorrow. Bill was a simple man but he loved the Lord and he was never ashamed to let anyone know his testimony. You are in our prayers. Love, the Palmer family
